Good News! Last Month The BC Government announced a Launch Online Grant. They had initially allocated $12 million to help 1,500 businesses establish or enlarge their online presence. On March 16th they have announced additional $30 million to help local businesses transition to online and e-commerce business. This additional funding is expected to help around 4000 more businesses market their products and services online. There is now $42 million of grant funding in place to help small- and medium-size businesses across B.C. move their business model online
“Many small businesses have had to change the way they operate as more and more people shifted to online purchasing during the pandemic. Our government has been there to help these businesses adapt,” Premier John Horgan said.
“By expanding eligibility to our successful launch online program, more B.C. small businesses from the hardest-hit sectors will have access to the tools they need to boost their online presence, grow their e-commerce capacity and become more resilient as we build toward a brighter future.”
Grant eligibility criteria has been expanded. Businesses that want to enhance or build an online booking system are now eligible to apply. The original eligibility criteria for businesses that want to enhance or build an online shop remains in place.
What does it cover?
You’ll have 75% of your costs covered for a maximum of $7500 per business for Web Development, Content Creation, Photography, E-commerce Subscription, Pay-per-Click Advertising, Search Engine Optimization, and Staff training to manage your Online Store.
Who can apply?
You are a BC resident operating in BC, you have less than 149 employees, have a GST number, and generated more than $30,000 in the past year. See here for full details. If you meet these eligibility requirements be sure to apply ASAP as the program will end once all the funds have been allocated.
